ASSEMBLY POLL 2024: Nominees go all out from door to door to nukkad meets

With the Assembly elections approaching, the contest between BJP and Congress candidates is going be a direct on. Both parties are leaving no stone unturned to ensure victory. From door-to-door campaigning to holding nukkad meetings, BJP candidate Jagmohan Anand and Congress candidate Sumita Singh are making their presence felt across the constituency. Both candidates are holding 10-15 programmes each, including the door-to-door meetings. People welcome them enthusiastically where ever they go.

During his campaign, Anand is banking on the works done by the BJP government in the past 10 years and relying on its well established party cadre, while Congress candidate Sumita Singh is focusing on her long-standing bond with the people of Karnal to win the seat.

Both candidates are confident about their chances of winning. “I am seeking votes on the basis of the work done by our government across the state. Our government has developed the state in an inclusive manner, with the vision of ‘Haryana Ek, Haryanvi Ek’. We have abolished the parchi-kharchi (recommendation and bribery) system. Our city has also been transformed under the BJP government, with Karnal being included in the Smart Cities Mission,” said Anand while addressing a nukar meeting in Ramnagar. He received an enthusiastic response from residents as he interacted with them. “I will try my best to ensure speedy development of the city if elected,” said Anand.

Sumita Singh criticised the BJP government for its failure to provide adequate employment opportunities to the youth, forcing many to seek illegal means to go abroad for work. “The BJP has become a government of portals, adding to the woes of the people over the past 10 years. Our previous government completed the construction of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, but BJP government has failed to provide enough doctors, turning it into a referral hospital. Development projects are stalled and key initiatives like the medical university and several Smart City projects remain incomplete. If elected, I will prioritise improving the health infrastructure and strengthening the condition of government schools,” said Singh.
