Haryana Assembly proceedings made fully paperless, says Speaker Gian Chand Gupta

Chandigarh, April 10

Foreign Cooperation Department of Haryana launched a new initiative of bilateral talks and exchange ideas with their best practices along with Saskatchewan province.

Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Gian Chand Gupta said the state legislative assembly has been made completely paperless by the successful implementation of the NeVA (National e-Vidhan Application). This initiative will not only expedite the procedure, but also bring transparency to the assembly proceedings.

Gupta said this while exchanging various initiatives and functioning of Haryana Legislative Assembly with foreign delegations during Haryana-Saskatchewan Legislative Exchange-2023 programme here today.

Foreign delegations led by Speaker of Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly, Randy Weekes, Opposition MLAs and Principal Secretary, Foreign Cooperation Department, Anurag Agarwal and Advisor to Chief Minister for Foreign Cooperation Department, Pawan Kumar Choudhary were also present.

The Vidhan Sabha Speaker further said that digitisation is the biggest need of the hour. With the initiative of e-Vidhan Sabha, the proceedings of the House, including agenda notices, bulletins, bills, starred and unstarred questions and their answers, documents to be laid on the table, reports of various committees, etc. have been performed effectively without the use of paper.

In the direction of environmental protection, the project plays an important role as up to 98 per cent paper has been saved due to the proceedings under the NeVA, he added.
