Kanwal Kumar, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM)-cum-Secretary, DLSA, said the objective of the programme was to provide crucial knowledge of the special law to parents and senior citizens and to make them aware of their rights under the Act.

Arvind Khurania, panel advocate of DLSA Kaithal and the key speaker, said the act places an obligation on children to provide food, clothing, housing and medical care for their senior citizen parents. Children, including adult sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters, are required to provide for these basic needs.
