Renu Bhatia, Chairperson of the Haryana State Commission for Women, said awareness was necessary to curb crimes against women. She said women were proving their talent by working in every field, giving a new direction to society.

Addressing an awareness programme organised by the Women Study Centre of DAV College for Girls, Yamunanagar, on POCSO Act and other subjects on Tuesday, she said after crossing the adolescence stage, every girl developed the ability to think about her own good and bad, therefore, they should not get influenced by anyone. She accepted that the incidents of crime against girls were increasing year after year, but they could be controlled with a little awareness and vigilance.
