Haryana Badminton Association (HBA) will award badminton player Devika Sihag with a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh for winning the women’s singles’ title in the Yonex Sunrise 86th Senior National Badminton Championship held in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Tuesday.

HBA general secretary Ajay Singhania said Devika, who hailed from Panchukla, had made the state proud.

She would be given away a cash prize of Rs five lakh by the association.

“Haryana has created a history by clinching the women’s singles’ national title for the third consecutive time. Anupama had won the women’s singles national title in 2022 while Anmol clinched it in 2023. Now, Devika has increased the honour of the state by winning this prestigious title,” Singhania added.

He said in the thrilling match, Devika defeated Shreyanshi Valishetti (21-15, 21-16) to achieve this historic victory.
