Sources said for the 2025-26 fiscal, the MC had set a target of collecting Rs 11 crore in property taxes, but had so far managed to recover only Rs 4 crore. The council has identified over 6,000 defaulters who owe more than Rs 1 lakh each in outstanding property tax. Notices have been issued to these property owners, urging them to pay their dues immediately to avoid action.
“Among the defaulters, more than 100 are major commercial houses, including banquet halls, petrol pumps, and hotels, in Bahadurgarh, which have not deposited their outstanding property tax for the past several years. These establishments will be targeted in the first round of the sealing drive. Special teams have been formed to carry out the campaign from next week,” said a municipal council official.
Arun Nandal, Executive Officer, Bahadurgarh Municipal Council, confirmed that notices had been issued to over 6,000 property tax defaulters.
“All these property owners have been served notices twice this financial year, but they have failed to comply. As a result, a sealing campaign has been announced, likely to be launched from Tuesday. Many of these properties, including banquet halls, hotels and petrol pumps, have outstanding dues exceeding Rs 5 lakh, as they have consistently failed to pay property tax in the previous years as well,” he said.
Nandal appealed to all property owners to deposit their outstanding tax at the earliest to avoid any sealing action. “Our goal is to recover remaining Rs 7 crore before the close of this financial year,” he said.
Earlier, Jhajjar Municipal Council also carried out a property tax recovery drive on Thursday and collected approximately Rs 20 lakh from defaulters.
Devinder Kumar, Executive Officer, Jhajjar Municipal Council, said action was taken against 10 commercial properties out of which two were sealed.
“Of these 10 properties, owners of four paid their outstanding property tax on the spot. Their properties were immediately unsealed. Another four property owners submitted receipts of their payments on the spot. However, two establishments were sealed as their owners failed to pay their tax dues,” he said.
Kumar maintained that the campaign would continue in a sustained manner to recover outstanding dues from defaulters.
