District Bar Association, Kaithal, on Wednesday extended support to Haryana Banao Abhiyan, a campaign by advocates, retired bureaucrats and professors, demanding a separate capital and High Court for the state within its territory.

Partap Singh, a member of the Bar Council of India (BCI), and Randhir Singh Badhran, former chairman, Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh, who is also the convener of the campaign, highlighted the importance of having a separate capital and High Court.

The state has not had its separate capital and High Court in the last 57 years of its existence. “We launched this campaign last year to sensitise the community and to get public opinion in this regard. We are getting good response from every section of society,” Badhran said.

“We have already submitted our demands to all MPs, MLAs and ministers of Haryana. We will soon send them to Union Home Minister Amit Shah as well,” he said. So far, seminars have been held in Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Jind, Hisar, Gurugram and Kaithal. The remaining districts would be covered soon, he said.
