Batra was interacting with mediapersons after taking stock of the fire incident site and meeting with the affected persons. Notably, the fire first broke out in a flat and later engulfed adjoining houses too.

“Luckily, no human loss was reported but the incident has caused a huge financial loss to the flat owners. It is surprising that no safety measures were taken by the local builder to deal with such a situation,” said Batra, adding that he could understand the pain of the affected persons.

On the occasion, the MLA also spoke to the Deputy Commissioner over the phone and discussed the entire incident and the subsequent administrative action. He asked the district administration to work promptly in the matter, settle all paperwork immediately, and provide compensation to the victims as soon as possible as per the government guidelines.

Batra assured the people that he would flag the issue before the Vidhan Sabha if need be.
