The family on Sunday took shelter in a dharamshala, alleging their boycott was ordered by a social panchayat following a clash with sarpanch Naresh Tanwar. A police spokesperson said delegations representing both parties met SP Sangeeta Kalia after which she set up the SIT headed by DSP Virender Singh to probe the matter.

Social activist Rajender Tanwar said the family was feeling threatened as a panchayat held a meeting on February 19 announced the family’s boycott. — TNS
