Amid rising temperatures, the issue of drinking water scarcity has surfaced yet again in Bhiwani as residents of Dhana Road and Dadri Gate areas staged a road blockade in the locality recently, alleging a severe water crisis.

Demanding adequate water supply, the residents alleged that there had been no supply of water to their homes for the past 14 days, causing severe hardships to them.

Women protesters, including Roshni Devi and Sheela Devi, said despite having staged a protest four days ago, their locality hadn’t received water.

Residents of the area were mostly daily-wage labourers, who were forced to buy water or carry it from distant places to fulfil their daily needs, they added.

They said they were not able to send their children to school as they could not bathe them because of the crisis. Traffic Police officer Suresh arrived at the scene and asked the people to clear the road.

The protesters removed the blockade after the authorities assured them of proper water supply.
