The Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra concluded peacefully in Nuh today amidst a tight security by around 5,000 cops and suspended Internet.

The yatra, which was attacked in 2023 leading to the biggest communal riots in the history of the state, epitomised communal harmony with many Meo-Muslim organisations and villages by providing refreshments and welcoming the participants.

With no rowdy vigilantes, arms or DJ like the last year the yatra went on the specified route amidst heavy checking of vehicles. Despite pre-yatra declarations by right wing outfits, none of the senior BJP leaders attended it, except for Forest Minister Sanjay Singh. Nuh Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata said while they knew there would not be any issue still they had taken precautions which paid off.

“We were all set for the yatra. We had elaborate security arrangements and convenience kiosks to managed large crowds. This year the yatra graduated from being one community’s procession to be a yatra of communal harmony in Nuh. We will work on making it a more social inclusive affair,” said Khadgata.

“We had heavy police deployment and frisking. The cops were on road the entire day and ensured no nuisance. We had been monitoring the social media since day one. The Nuh police have managed to not just maintain peace but even restore harmony,” said Nuh SP Vijay Pratap. The yatra proceeded from Nalhareswar Temple to Jhir Temple and Singar Temple.

Many shops in the nearby villages remained closed, reflecting the day’s solemnity. The last year’s violence had caused a significant damage and loss of lives, but this year’s peaceful procession aimed to heal past wounds and promote unity.
