The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially appointed ward election in-charges for the upcoming local body elections. The move comes after a key meeting held by the BJP's core committee to plan and strategise for the elections. District president Shishpal Kamboj presided over the meeting, highlighting the importance of the party's commitment to contesting the elections under the symbol of lotus. The meeting also witnessed the appointment of dedicated leaders for each of the city's 32 wards, who would lead the party in their respective areas.

According to Shishpal Kamboj, in Ward 1, Makhan Singh Kheowali has been appointed as the in-charge, while Gurdev Singh Rahi will handle Ward 2. Ward 3 will be led by Renu Sharma, and Virender Tinna will take the charge of Ward 4. Suresh Pnwar has been assigned Ward 5 and Pushpa Rani will lead the campaign in Ward 6. Mukesh Mehta will handle Ward 7 with Sukhvinder Singh Barad taking responsibility for Ward 8. In Ward 9, Rohitash Jangda has been appointed and Yatindra Singh will oversee Ward 10.

Additional in-charges include Bhawna Sharma for Ward 21, Bhojraj Gurjar for Ward 22, Sikandar Khattar for Ward 23, Shanti Swaroop Valmiki for Ward 24 and Tarsem Sama for Ward 25. Manish Singla, Vijay Sethi, Krishna Mehta, Shyam Bajaj, Bhupesh Mehta, Aman Chopra and Jaswinder Kaur Pinky have been assigned to lead the remaining wards.

Each appointed leader will be responsible for organising the party's election campaign, mobilising support, and ensuring BJP's victory in the local elections, Kamboj added.

Shishpal Kamboj said this strategic move reflected the party's commitment to engaging dedicated leaders at the grassroots level and ensuring that the BJP's message reached every part of the city. He said, the party hoped that this effort would lead to a strong showing in the upcoming local body elections, with the core committee confident that each appointed in-charge would play an essential role in the party's success.

Other parties, particularly the Congress and Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP), are not very active at the moment. The Congress has announced key positions such as district in-charges and conveners, but no meetings have been held yet for the local body elections. Rajkumar Sharma, Haryana Pradesh Congress representative, stated that a high-level meeting would be held in Delhi on Friday to discuss the elections. The party will follow the high command’s instructions and is fully prepared. The Congress was confident of winning the Chairperson’s post as it performed well in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, HLP's Gopal Kanda and BJP leader Gobind Kanda are occupied with family events and the INLD and JJP are waiting to see the situation unfold.
