BSP supremo Mayawati said it was necessary to remove the BJP and the Congress from power to save the reservation as these parties and their allies were against quota system and conspiring to end it. “The Supreme Court gave a verdict in August 2024, holding that states are constitutionally empowered to make sub-classifications within the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The BJP government at the centre, the Congress and other political parties should have advocated properly in the court against the judgment, which they did not,” alleged former UP CM Mayawati. She addressed a rally in Chhachhrauli town of Jagadhri.
