Jhajjar, July 31
Local Congress MLA Geeta Bhukkal today launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government and alleged that the party had done nothing for the betterment of people belonging to the Schedule Castes (SCs) and Backward Classes (BCs). She said the saffron party leaders were running an agenda against reservations.
MLA Bhukkal said, “The ideology of the BJP and RSS are against the SCs and BCs; hence they are opposing the caste census. They had also worked against the Constitution formed by Dr Ambedkar that ensures reservation for people belonging to the SCs. The RSS and BJP leaders and workers are running an anti-reservation agenda.”
Bhukkal claimed that every section of society was supporting the caste census as it would disclose the share of every caste in the population and also in government jobs, politics and the economy of the country. She said it would help ensure proper representation for all sections of society; however, the BJP did not want that.
She said, “Ever since the BJP has come to power, it has attacked the rights of people belonging to the SCs and BCs. It reduced the OBC ‘creamy layer’ cap from Rs 8 lakh to 6 lakh for OBCs, which deprived a large number of youth belonging to the OBC of availing themselves of the benefits of reservation.”
