Creating fresh trouble for the BJP, Sandeep Garg, a local leader who was eyeing party ticket, filed his nomination as an Independent candidate from Ladwa Assembly constituency against Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

Garg had joined the BJP in March this year and had been trying for the party ticket.

He was not happy with the party fielding the CM from the constituency and stopped attending party events. Garg had been involved in various social services, including providing food at affordable prices, ambulance service, distributing sports equipment and helping poor people with respect to their children’s education. The CM had gone to meet him but failed to pacify him. In the 2019 elections, Sandeep had quit the Congress after he was denied party ticket.

After days of remaining silent, Garg addressed a gathering in Ladwa, and said, “In the previous Assembly election, the Congress denied me party ticket. I joined the BJP, and I was assured Lok Sabha election ticket but it was not given, then I was assured Assembly ticket, and again I have been left out. I have been running various services for the welfare of people of Ladwa and remain with them during their hard times, but still I was ignored. There is a lot of pressure on me. Contesting against the CM is not an easy task. Even the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was sent for investigation, but I am ready to face every challenge.”

Garg also slammed Congress sitting MLA and candidate Mewa Singh, saying, “The sitting MLA is again seeking votes while he failed to do any work for the people of Ladwa over the past five years. You should give an appropriate reply to him as well. The MLA and the government both did nothing for Ladwa. There are various issues and I want to become an MLA for the development of Ladwa.”

He called upon his supporters to go door to door to garner support for him, and said, “They will put pressure on you and try to lure you, but you have to stay strong. Just give me an opportunity and I will do rest of the things. People of Ladwa are with me and I will win the election.”
