In an apparent bid to outsmart the traditional rival Congress, the BJP today named its nine mayoral candidates, fielding some of its big guns for the upcoming municipal polls.

Party president Mohan Lal Badoli nominated Praveen Joshi, Chairman of the Haryana Child Welfare Commission, from Faridabad and Praveen Popli from Hisar. Former Mayor of the Karnal MC Renu Bala Gupta was nominated again from Karnal. An OBC leader, Komal Saini, will be the party candidate from Panipat. Ramavatar Balmiki will be candidate from Rohtak.

Suman Bahmani will be the mayoral candidate from Yamunanagar while Selja Sachdeva will the party candidate from Ambala. Raj Rani Malhotra will be the party candidate from Gurugram. A former media adviser to CM, Rajiv Jain, will battle it out ftom Sonepat. Badoli told The Tribune the party had fielded its best candidates for the MC polls. “We are in the election mode and on our way to form triple-engine government after the MC polls,” he claimed.
