Palwal, June 22

The BJP managed to bag the top post in the civic body of Palwal, but lost the Hodal Municipal Committee’s chairmanship to its rebel Indresh Kumari, who fought as an Independent.

In Palwal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Yashpal won by a margin of 2,756 votes over his nearest rival Dheeraj Kumar, an Independent, who was supported by former MLA Subhash Chaudhary. Chaudhary has also been considered close to the BJP. Yashpal got 23,423 votes while Dheeraj could secure 20,667.

Veer Kumar, an Independent supported by former MLA Karan Dalal, stood third with 14,209 votes. Naveen Rohilla of AAP finished fourth with 10,416 votes.

With a total of 14 candidates in fray, five of the candidates could manage votes lower than NOTA’s 853.

In Hodal, BJP rebel Indresh Kumari, an Independent, has been elected chairperson. She got 9,629 votes. She defeated Uday Singh, an Independent, by a margin of 3,802 votes. Another Independent, Brij Bhushan, having support of HPCC president Uday Bhan,a former MLA, stood third with 5,785 votes.

Jagmohan, another Independent, backed by JJP leader and former minister Harsh Kumar, finished fourth with 5,343 votes.

BJP’s Lakhan Lal, backed by Hodal MLA Jagdish Nayar, stood fifth with 4,198 votes. AAP candidate Sanjay Mittal lost the security deposit as he could get only 255 votes.

The winners of the Palwal Municipal Council are Hirdesh (ward 1), Reena (ward 2), Deepchand (ward 3), Devender Singh (ward 4), Jagram Singh ((ward 5), Jyoti (ward 6), Renu (ward 7), Karan Singh (ward 8), Suraj (ward 9), Anuj Sharma (ward 10), Harjit Singh (ward 11), Vidushi (ward 12), Anil Gosain (ward 13), Jitender (ward 14), Jitender Tewatia (ward 15), Kanak Lata (ward 16), Vikash Choudhary (ward 17), Pawan Bhadana (ward 18) Ekta (ward 19), Kavita (ward 20), Sushma (ward 21), Manoj Kumar (ward 22), Dinesh Saini (ward 23) Devdutt (ward 24), Rekha (ward 25), Vishan Singh (ward 26), Sanjay (ward 27), Anju (ward 28), Anil Ward (ward 29), Sunita (ward 30) and Harkishan Tewatia (ward 31).

Those who won in the Hodal Municipal Committee include Harendri (ward 1), Rohtash (ward 2), Sunita Devi (ward 3), Deepak (ward 4), Hukam Chand (ward 5), Raj Singh (ward 6), Manisha (ward 7), Digamber (ward 8), Neeraj (ward 9), Hetram (ward 10), Sangeeta (ward 11), Kuldeep (ward 12), Rajender Kumar (ward 13), Meera (ward 14), Lal Chand (ward 15), Jubin Kumar (ward 16), Pinki (ward 17), Puneet Gautam (ward 18), Seema (ward 19), Rashmi (ward 20) and Pinki Devi (ward 21).
