BJP’s Jai Bhagwan stakes claim on Thanesar seat, targets own MLA

Kurukshetra, July 9
Seeking party ticket from the Thanesar Assembly constituency, BJP leader Jai Bhagwan (DD) Sharma has launched a ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’ in Thanesar to seek public support and stake his claim on the party ticket.
The Thanesar Assembly segment is being currently represented by BJP MLA and Minister of State for Urban Local Bodies Subhash Sudha.
“Though there is a sitting MLA from the party, people want to bring about a change. I have played a crucial role in the previous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections for the party. Even in the 2014 Assembly poll, I wanted to contest from the Thanesar segment, but on the directions of the party leaders, I contested from the Pehowa segment. I have been working in Thanesar for 40 years, and now my supporters want me to contest from here,” said Sharma.
During his campaign, Sharma has also opened a front against his own party’s MLA and accused him of promoting ‘parivarvad’ in the party.
“People are not against the party but there is resentment against the local representative. The MLA has got posts for his family members in the party organisation while the eligible people are left out. My son was the district president of the Yuva Morcha but was removed from the post. I also tried for the Lok Sabha ticket from the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency but was denied the ticket,” he added.
He said, “If I am denied the ticket again, I will decide the future course of action. There is no point in receiving no respect for my work.”
