Meanwhile, prominent local leader Shamsher Kharkara, who had contested the 2014 and 2019 Assembly elections from Meham on BJP ticket, has announced to call a meeting of his workers and supporters on September 7, following which he would announce his decision.

"I have been facing resentment from the local workers since last night, and we will take a final decision in this regard after the meeting," Kharkara told reporters at Meham.

However, some local leaders of the BJP stated that the decision to allocate the party ticket to Deepak was wrong as he was an outsider and had joined the party recently.
