Farm activists under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni) today blocked the national highways for two hours to mark their protest against the death of a youth during the ongoing farmers’ agitation at the Khanauri border.

The farmers staged a dharna on the Panchkula-Yamunanagar highway in Ambala, Ambala-Delhi highway in Shahbad and Ambala-Hisar highway at Pehowa in Kurukshetra.

BKU (Charuni) Ambala district president Malkit Singh said, “The farmers want to reach Delhi to raise their demands but the government has been stopping them by using the force. To protest the killing of the youth at the Khanauri border yesterday, the union had given a call for a two-hour protest across the state.”

BKU (Charuni) spokesman Rakesh Bains said, “The use of force against the farmers is unacceptable. The government should accept the demands otherwise the agitation will be further intensified.”
