Demanding the arrest of both the accused -– owner of a reputed private school and a Tehsildar — in a high-profile gang rape case, scores of members of the Brahmin community under the banner of Karnal Brahmin Sabha on Friday protested in the city.

They handed over a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav in support of their demand. The investigation of this case has already been transferred by IGP Karnal Range Bharti Arora to the Kaithal police on the request of the Karnal police.

The protesters alleged that the police did not investigate the case seriously and did not even arrest any of the accused. Surinder Barota, president, Karnal Brahmin Sabha, Sachin Sharma and others demanded the suspension of the Tehsildar.

They threatened to intensify the stir across the state if the accused are not arrested in two to three days. Barota said that it was alleged that the Karnal police had “taken money” to favour the accused due to which they had left the investigation.
