Hospital administrator Rajkumar Kamra said Dr Monika Gupta and Dr Anjana Narula addressed the gathering and shared valuable information about breastfeeding. Dr Monika Gupta said motherhood was one of the most beautiful experiences in a woman’s life. She emphasised the importance of colostrums, the thick yellowish first milk which she described as “liquid gold” due to its immunity boosting properties. She added that breastfeeding not only supported a baby’s full development but also protected the mothers from breast and ovarian cancer later in life. According to her, every mother should begin breastfeeding within one hour of delivery.

Dr Anjana Narula highlighted that breast milk was always at the right temperature and readily available to the baby. It contained all essential nutrients in correct amounts and was easy to digest. She advised mothers to regularly consult gynecologiststo receive proper guidance on breastfeeding.

Speaking at the event, pediatrician Dr Radheshyam Sharma stated that a mother’s milk acted as the baby’s first vaccine, protecting them from many serious illnesses throughout life.
