Cracking the whip on violators, teams of the Regional Transport Authority, Yamunanagar, have impounded 43 overloaded vehicles in the past 10 days in the district. A fine of Rs 28,97,500 has been imposed on the owners of these vehicles. Hairatjeet Kaur, Secretary of Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Yamunanagar, said two teams of the RTA, Yamunanagar, one team in the day time and the other in the night time, were carrying out checking drive in the district. She further said that during the checking drive, the teams of the department had caught 43 vehicles involved in overloading from October 1 to October 10.

Sirsa: The Fast Track Special Court in Sirsa has sentenced 27-year-old Goura Singh, alias Gurvinder Singh, to life imprisonment for the sexual assault of a five-year-old girl. The verdict was delivered by Additional Sessions Judge Praveen Kumar on Wednesday. Samistha, special public prosecutor, said the case dates back to September 20, 2022, when the incident occurred in Jhorar Rohi village of Sirsa district. The accused lured the young girl to a secluded area, where he assaulted her. Following the incident, the girl’s family reported the crime to the Rori police, leading to an investigation. The court found Goura Singh guilty. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the convict.
