Kurukshetra: The anti-narcotics cell of the Kurukshetra police has arrested a Punjab resident in connection with the recovery of opium and churapost (poppy husk). The accused was identified as Harinder Singh. Harinder was produced before a court which sent him to judicial custody. Kurukshetra ANC in-charge Surender Pal said on August 15, Ajay Kumar and Ajay, both residents of Punjab, were arrested and 1kg opium and 70 kg poppy husk were recovered from their possession. During the probe, Harinder’s role came to light as the opium and poppy husk was being brought from Jharkhand on his direction. TNS

Orders to deposit weapons issued

Rewari: SP Gaurav Rajpurohit has instructed in-charges of all police stations in the district to ensure the deposition of licenced weapons of their area at the police station before the Assembly poll. He said the weapons could also be deposited at the gun houses . TNS
