Kurukshetra: The Kurukshetra police have arrested three men in two drug cases with poppy husk and opium. Superintendent of Police Varun Singla said, “Gurinder Singh, a resident of Punjab, was arrested and 60-kg poppy husk was recovered from his truck on Tuesday evening. He was produced in a court which sent him to 10-day police remand.” In another case, the police arrested two men with 3.25 kg of opium from their possession. The accused were identified as Harmandeep Singh and Lovepreet Singh, both residents of Punjab. TNS

Man dies by suicide in sirsa

Sirsa: A man from Pacca Shahidan village, identified as Tehal Singh, ended his life by consuming poison after his daughter married a local boy, Sukhdeep Singh, without the family's consent. The distressing event occurred when Singh feared dishonour and social stigma in the village following his daughter's decision. Following the incident, Kalanwali police registered a case against Rajandeep Kaur and five others under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, based on the statement of Arshdeep Singh, the deceased's son. OC
