Candidates give final push to poll campaign on last day in Karnal

On the last day of campaigning, candidates from Karnal district made a final push with roadshows, public meetings and door-to-door visits.

In a show of strength, former MLA and Congress candidate from Karnal Sumita Singh Virk led a massive roadshow through the city, which saw the participation of several supporters, party leaders and workers.

Virk expressed confidence in her victory, claiming, “People are extending their support to me, and with the support, we will win the seat by a huge margin.” The roadshow started from Shiv Colony and concluded at the party office, passing through various streets of the city. She was greeted by locals at multiple stops and she appealed to the voters to support her, stating that the Congress was poised to form the government.

BJP candidate from Karnal Jagmohan Anand held a series of public meetings, urging people to vote for him. In his speeches, he highlighted the achievements of the BJP government over the past 10 years for both Haryana and Karnal.

“We will win the seat as our government has developed the state inclusively, without any discrimination. We will form the government and win the Karnal seat with a huge margin,” said Anand.

In Gharaunda, BJP candidate Harvinder Kalyan, accompanied by his daughter Ayeshna Kalyan and numerous party workers and supporters, also organised a roadshow through Gharaunda town, where he appealed to people to vote in his favour. “People will shower their blessings on me and elect me for the third consecutive time,” said Kalyan.

Similarly, Congress candidate from Gharaunda Virender Singh Rathore conducted two roadshows — one in the Phoosgarh area and second in Gharaunda town. He too was greeted warmly by the locals at various locations.

Rathore expressed confidence that the people of Gharaunda would elect him, assuring them of inclusive development. “People know that the Congress is coming to power, and we will win the Gharaunda seat by a massive margin,” said Rathore.

Congress candidate from Assandh Shamsher Singh Gogi held a series of public meetings, urging people to elect him. His son Samrat also led a roadshow in support of his father. Gogi claimed he would secure victory for the second consecutive time. On the BJP side, Assandh candidate Yoginder Rana held multiple public meetings, and asked the voters to support the BJP to maintain the pace of development.

Congress candidate from Indri Rakesh Kamboj and BJP candidate from the same seat Ram Kumar Kashyap also held a series of meetings in the area on the last day of campaigning. Similarly in Nilokheri, BJP candidate Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi and Congress candidate Dharampal Gonder also addressed various meetings.
