The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at godowns of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in Sirsa district today morning.

The raiding parties were still inside the godowns till the filing of this report and the officials of the local administration had been kept away from the proceedings.

According to information, the raiding teams reached the FCI godowns in Mangala, Panniwala Mota, Sanwat Khera and Ellanabad towns of the district. No other official except the FCI personnel were allowed entry into the godowns. The teams are accompanied by CRPF officials who stood guard outside the buildings.

According to sources, a team led by a DSP of the CBI swooped down on the offices last night. They are checking the official documents to ascertain the availability of stock of the food grain besides testing the quality of the grain.

Kurukshetra: The CBI team also held a surprise check at a godown at Ranjit Nagar in Shahabad where the FCI had stored its rice stock.

The team reportedly took samples of rice from the godown and also checked weight and the stacks, to check the quantity and quality of the stock.

As per information there is around 52,000 MT stock of rice in the godown.

District Manager FCI Kumar Abhishek said, “It is a surprise check and not much details have been shared with us so far. The team has been doing the physical verification besides checking the quality of the stock. The inspection is being carried out in one godown here, it started last night and it was still on till Friday evening. There is around 52,000 MT rice stock in this godown.”
