Sirsa: Chautala villagers protest over poor law and order

Residents voiced their frustration over the “ineffective policing” in a meeting held at the village panchayat house in Chautala. They demanded a complete ban on drugs and medical intoxicants and measures to curb the rising incidents of theft, robbery, and dacoity. It was decided that residents from 20 villages would gherao the Chautala police post on July 15.

A memorandum was submitted to Dabwali SP Dipti Garg on July 2. The villagers warned that if no strict action was taken by July 8, they would stage an indefinite sit-in at the police post. Although the police conducted raids, they failed to seize any drugs, indicating that the administration was not serious about eradicating the drug menace, despite the deaths of hundreds of young people, the villagers alleged.

From Wednesday, there will be widespread promotion of the event. They will contact sarpanches, former sarpanches and representatives to join the movement.
