Civic body cleans ghats of Western Yamuna Canal in Yamunanagar

Workers of the MCYJ cleaned the area by removing garbage and improving the uneven ghats by filling them with soil. Fogging was also done to prevent mosquito-borne diseases in the area.
Mayor Suman Bahmani and Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Parsad inspected the ghats on Friday.
They took stock of the preparations being made by the MCYJ and other departments. They also instructed the officials to complete the preparations soon.
“Ropes have been tied on the banks of the canal for safety. The banks of the canal have been cleaned, so that devotees do not have to face any problem in performing Chhath Puja and they remain safe from going into deep water,” said Bahmani.
She said cleanliness related signboards were also installed at various places by the MCYJ.
According to information, on the instructions of
Bahmani and Parsad, the employees of the MCYJ, led by Chief Sanitation Inspector Vinod Beniwal were busy making the arrangements.
The employees of the MCYJ cleaned the Chitta Mandir Ghat, Yamuna Vihar Colony Ghat, Badhi Majra Ghat, Purana Hamida Ghat and other ghats along the Western Yamuna Canal.
Pits along all ghats were filled with soil. Poles were installed and ropes were tied to prevent devotees from venturing into deep water. Besides, fogging was done at all ghats. Prasad said the MCYJ had made numerous arrangements for Chhath Puja and dustbins had been placed to prevent littering.
He appealed to devotees, who would attend Chhath Puja, to maintain cleanliness on the Yamuna banks and ghats. “The devotees should dispose of garbage only in the dust bins. They should avoid venturing into deep water of the canal while offering prayers to the Sun. They should not throw idols, garlands, materials, or any other type of garbage into the canal. There is a need to save canal from getting polluted,” said Parsad.
