Taking strict action against property tax defaulters, a team of the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri, sealed five properties, including one factory. These defaulters owed Rs 44,38,310 property tax to the MCYJ.

The team of the MCYJ sealed four properties in Yamunanagar zone and one property in Jagadhri zone.

According to information, a few months ago, the MCYJ issued notices to the property owners, who owned more than Rs 1 lakh property tax.The notices were issued under the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994.

Despite receiving the notices, these property owners failed to pay the tax, therefore, the MCYJ took action to seal their properties. On the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Parsad, separate teams were formed to seal properties in Yamunanagar and Jagadhri zones.

According to information, a team led by Regional Taxation Officer Sanjay Kumar and office Superintendent Raghuveer Singh visited Patel Nagar in Jagadhri and sealed a factory, which owed the MCYJ Rs 16,41,676 as property tax.

The team members pasted a warning notice on the factory gate, threatening legal action if the seal was opened without the permission of the corporation.

In the Yamunanagar zone, a team comprising Regional Taxation Officers Ajay Walia and Jitender Malhotra sealed four shops at Netaji Subhash Nagar, near Yamunanagar bus stand, on Govindpuri Road and in Model Town.

Mahabir Parsad said the MCYJ was continuously taking action against those who failed to pay property tax.

“The properties of those persons, who own property tax dues of more than Rs 1 lakh are being sealed. The property owners should deposit their outstanding property tax to avoid sealing action,” said Mahabir Parsad.

He said the owners were warned several times by issuing notices, before sealing their properties. He further said this action would continue in future also, therefore, the defaulters were appealed to deposit their property tax.
