In view of the general election scheduled for June 29 (Sunday) to elect the Chairman and Councillors of all wards under the Kalanwali Municipality in Sirsa, the state government has declared a paid holiday for eligible voters.

As per an official press note issued on Tuesday, all government offices, boards, corporations and educational institutions of the Haryana Government located within the constituency will observe a paid holiday on the day of polling. This move is in accordance with Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and Section 173-A of the Haryana Panchayati Raj Act, 1994.

The leave will be applicable only to government employees who are registered voters in the Kalanwali constituency, enabling them to cast their vote.

Furthermore, employees working in factories, shops and private institutions in Haryana who are registered voters in the constituency will also be granted paid leave under the same provisions to ensure maximum voter participation.
