Class-12 Haryana student takes own life after 'sexual abuse' by 3 youths; 1 arrested
A Class-12 girl student allegedly ended her life by jumping in front of a Vande Bharat Express train in Gannaur on Wednesday.
The victim's father alleged that three youths from the village sexually abused and harassed his daughter, leading her to take the step.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) have sent the body to Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women at Khanpur Kalan, where a medical board will conduct the post-mortem later in the day.
A case has been registered against the three youths for allegedly sexually abusing the girl and pressing her to commit suicide, based on her father's complaint.
The police have arrested one of the accused, Tushar, from the village. He is set to be produced before the court later in the day.
GRP SHO Jogender Singh said the girl committed suicide by jumping in front of the train between Gannaur and Bhodwal Majri railway stations on Wednesday.
Her body was identified by her family. Her father, in his complaint, accused Tushar, Kamal and Manjeet of sexually abusing and harassing his daughter. He alleged that the suicide was a consequence of the harassment.
The SHO said a case was registered under the IPC and POCSO Acts, and an investigation is under way.
Gannaur GRP in-charge Suresh Kumar said the main accused, Tushar, had been arrested. According to the victim's Aadhaar Card, she was 18, which meant the POCSO Act might not apply in the case, he added.
