Class X student shot dead by former classmate in Hisar

A Class X student of a private school was allegedly shot dead by his former classmate near Satrod village in the district on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Dixit of Mastnath Colony. His father, an ex-serviceman, works as a guard at a godown of the Food Corporation of India.

The police have taken the suspect, a teenager, into custody and launched an investigation. During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to the crime and revealed that he used his grandfather’s licensed firearm to carry it out.

As per reports, over a year ago, Dixit had a dispute with a classmate over sitting on the front bench. Following the incident, the classmate’s family pressured Dixit’s parents to change his school. However, they refused, citing CBSE registration rules. As a result, the other family decided to transfer their son to a different school.

Dixit’s family alleged that since then, the student had been repeatedly threatening to kill Dixit.

The crime was perpetrated this morning when the victim set out on a scooter to fetch milk from a nearby dairy. In the meantime, the suspect called him, and Dixit (on his scooter) and his classmate on a motorcycle rode together to the far end of the loading point near the Satrod railway station.

They engaged in a verbal duel that escalated into a physical fight. In a fit of rage, the accused pulled out a gun from the bag on his motorcycle. He first fired a shot into the air, and then he fired a second shot, hitting Dixit in the lower back.

The sound of gunfire drew the attention of an elderly woman nearby, who rushed to the spot and called out for help. Meanwhile, Dixit's phone, which was in his pocket, started ringing. The woman received the call, which was from his mother. She informed her of the situation, prompting the family to rush to the scene.

Dixit was taken to a private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Later, a team of the Government Railway Police (GRP) and forensic science experts visited the spot and took samples.

Vinod Kumar, SHO, GRP, said blood samples taken from the spot had been sent for forensic examination. “The deceased’s slipper and scooter have also been recovered from the spot. The crime occurred in a bushy area where there are no CCTV cameras,” he added.
