Close contest set between BJP, Congress on all Panipat seats

As election campaigning reaches its final stage, the contest in Panipat’s constituencies is turning fierce, particularly between the BJP and Congress. The main focus is on the Israna, Samalkha, and Panipat City constituencies, where a close fight between the two parties is observed. In Panipat Rural, the competition includes not only BJP and Congress candidates but also a Congress rebel running as an Independent.

With election day set for October 5, candidates and their teams have been campaigning relentlessly. In Panipat City, BJP’s Pramod Vij faces a strong challenge from Congress’ Varinder Kumar Shah, with former BJP MLA and Independent candidate Rohita Rewri also in the mix.

In Panipat Rural, BJP’s Mahipal Dhanda is promoting development work and colony legalisation efforts, while Congress’ Sachin Kundu is relying on an anti-BJP wave and the support of the Hooda family. Independent candidate Vijay Jain is also seen as a factor in the race.

Samalkha sees a direct contest between BJP’s Manmohan Bhadana and Congress’ Dharam Singh Chhoker, though Independent candidate Ravinder Machroli may sway the outcome.

In Israna, BJP’s Krishan Lal Panwar is up against Congress’ Balbir Valmiki, making for another tight race. Political analysts suggest that Independents could play a crucial role in determining the outcome across constituencies.

Dr RP Saini, an election analyst, noted that while the BJP has an edge in Panipat City and Panipat Rural, close contests in Samalkha and Israna make the final result unpredictable. Voting will conclude on October 5, with results expected on October 8.
