CM announces special recruitment drive for sportspersons in police

CISF tops medal tally with 40 medals
AdvertisementCISF players secured 13 gold, 9 silver and 18 bronze medals for a total of 40. Uttar Pradesh bagged 12 gold, 15 silver and 19 bronze medals, while ITBP players claimed 9 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals.
The announcement came during the valedictory ceremony of the 74th All India Police Wrestling Cluster (2025–26), held at Vachher Stadium, Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban.
“Energetic and promising players are the pride of our state. To encourage such emerging talent, I announce that soon such outstanding sportspersons will be recruited into Haryana Police,” said the CM, responding to a demand raised by DGP Shatrujeet Kapur.
Thrilling finals, top medals
The five-day championship, held from September 20 to 24, saw participation from 1,485 players across 35 teams, including 1,135 men, 350 women, and 130 technical officials. Events covered arm wrestling, bodybuilding, boxing and wrestling.
The closing day featured electrifying bouts in the presence of the CM. In the women’s freestyle 53 kg final, Rajni of CISF beat Hemlata of Uttar Pradesh 5-3 to bag gold, while in the men’s freestyle 125 kg category, Haryana’s Mausam Khatri overcame Ishaq Ahmed of J&K 2-1 to clinch top honours.
‘Sports build resilience’
The CM underscored sports as a tool of holistic development. “Sports help in developing the skill of adapting to adverse situations. Haryana has always been a frontrunner in sports, with significant contributions from both citizens and police personnel. Many players from Haryana Police have brought laurels at the international level,” he said.
Congratulating Haryana Police for successfully hosting the cluster, he added that the Prime Minister’s vision of a Fit India and his call to make India a global sporting superpower by 2036 guide the state’s sports policies.
The CM also honoured the winners and runners-up on the occasion.
DGP welcomes decision
DGP Shatrujeet Kapur lauded the CM’s gesture, saying: “Whenever a proposal related to the welfare of Haryana Police is placed before the CM, he immediately considers and implements it. The approval for special recruitment of 600 sportspersons is the result of his vision.” He congratulated medal winners and urged them to maintain their winning streak.
