Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met Padma Shri awardees, renowned author Sant Ram Deswal and Paralympic gold medallist Harvinder Singh here today.

He presented a shawl and memento to Deswal and Harvinder Singh, and congratulated them on receiving the award.

Deswal is a scholar of Haryanvi folk literature as well as Hindi literature. His life has been dedicated to promoting folk culture, Hindi literature, education, research and social service.

Harvinder Singh is the first Indian para-archer to win medals for India in both the Paralympics and Asian Para Games. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, he received the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2021. The Haryana Government honoured him with the Bhim Award in 2022.
