Addressing the gathering, Saini said, “Haryana has a vital role in India’s overall development. At a time when India is emerging as a major global economic power and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the goal of achieving a $5-trillion economy, Haryana is contributing maximum towards realising this vision.”
He noted that although Haryana accounts for just 1.34 per cent of India’s geographical area and 2.09 per cent of its population, it continues to serve as a major engine of economic growth. The state, he said, ranks second in the country and first in North India in providing logistics facilities to industries and 400 Fortune companies have offices in Gurugram.
Saini added, “Every second car running on India’s roads is manufactured in Haryana. The state also produces 52 per cent of the country’s tractors.” Haryana, he said, also ranks second in contributing to the Central foodgrain pool and leads in sports, producing the maximum number of Olympic and international medal winners among Indian states.
The Chief Minister described Haryana as a major hub for automobile, IT, and allied industries, backed by world-class infrastructure — from expressways and rail networks to Metro systems and reliable power and irrigation facilities. “Every district in the state is connected to a national highway, and every village is illuminated with electricity,” he said, adding that the state has also developed numerous world-class educational institutions offering modern and multidisciplinary learning.
Highlighting Haryana’s growing innovation ecosystem, he said the state has emerged as the 7th largest in India in terms of the number of startups, with 9,500 recognised ventures currently operating.
The pavilion’s display of Haryana’s traditional costumes, handicrafts, clay artworks, folk dances and music drew an enthusiastic response from Japanese visitors. Many locals donned Haryanvi attire for photo sessions and danced to Ghoomar and Phag performances, immersing themselves in the vibrant spirit of Haryanvi culture.
Meanwhile, the delegation led by Saini travelled from Tokyo to Osaka aboard the iconic Shinkansen (bullet train). During the journey, Saini noted that under the Central Government’s “Viksit Bharat” initiative, a high-speed train corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is being developed as India’s first bullet train project.
