The roadshow led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini across five Assembly segments in Faridabad on Sunday, in support of BJP candidates for the upcoming civic body polls, was briefly marred by two minor incidents. Despite these moments of distraction, both the ruling party and police asserted that the event proceeded peacefully, dismissing the episodes as insignificant.

The first incident occurred in the Ballabgarh segment when a mobile phone landed near the CM’s cavalcade, causing a momentary stir. Eyewitnesses speculated that the phone might have been thrown towards the CM's vehicle, potentially posing a security risk. However, police officials quickly refuted this, clarifying that the phone had accidentally fallen while a supporter was showering flowers on the passing convoy.

“The mobile phone incident was not a security breach. It simply fell near the cavalcade as a supporter threw flowers towards the chief guest,” said Yashpal Singh, spokesperson for the Police Department.

A second, more visible disruption took place in the Jawahar Colony area of the NIT Assembly segment. A 50-year-old man stepped in front of the cavalcade, removed his shirt, and waved a black cloth in an apparent act of protest. Security personnel swiftly intervened, removing the man and escorting him away in a police vehicle within minutes. The incident caused a brief 10-minute delay before the roadshow resumed.

Footage of this act quickly circulated on social media, sparking public discussions. Police later confirmed that the man detained was reportedly an AAP candidate for the civic body elections.

“This appears to be a political tactic to attract attention or stage a protest,” said Yashpal Singh. “We have detained the individual and an investigation is underway.”

Reassuring the public about the event’s security, Singh said, “The police were on high alert throughout and there was no breach of security during the roadshow, which concluded peacefully.”
