Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday visited rain-affected areas of Fatehabad district, including Baliyala head, Kudni head and Chandpura siphon. During his visit, he assessed the waterlogged conditions and met local residents and farmers, assuring them of all possible support from the state government.

In a bid to address crop losses caused by heavy rainfall, the Chief Minister announced the opening of the e-compensation portal. Farmers can use this platform to report details of damaged crops. So far, around 1.7 lakh acres of crop damage have been registered across the state. Saini assured that compensation would soon be disbursed and reiterated the government’s commitment to stand firmly with the farmers during this crisis.

The Chief Minister also addressed damages to houses caused by the rainfall. He said that residents whose houses or roofs had been affected would be provided relief. Instructions have been given to district officials to prepare a list of such households and ensure swift compensation. Under the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Housing Scheme, Rs 78.5 crore has already been released about a month ago. Affected families can apply for aid and receive timely assistance.

The Chief Minister acknowledged that waterlogging in low-lying areas of Haryana had become a serious concern due to heavy rainfall. He instructed officials to speed up relief and drainage work, and stressed that the government was working towards finding a permanent solution to the issue to prevent similar hardships in the future.

Saini thanked administrative officers, ministers, MLAs and public representatives for their active role in reaching out to affected communities. He urged everyone to stay united in this time of crisis, stating that such challenges could only be overcome through collective effort.

Rain-hit villagers left disappointed

Residents of flood-affected villages of Leharia, Bhuna and Rahan Kheri in Haryana’s Fatehabad district waited in vain on Sunday for Chief Minister Nayab Saini, who was expected to visit and assess the damage caused by the recent heavy rains. From early morning, villagers gathered at Lehariya’s petrol pump and Bhuna’s Agrasen Chowk, many without food or water, hoping to voice their problems directly to the Chief Minister. However, their hopes were dashed when news spread that the visit had been cancelled.

The region has been severely hit by rain, leading to waterlogging in fields, damp houses and muddy roads. Locals were expecting relief announcements and on-ground assessment. Many said the issue went beyond water; and it's about the worsening conditions they faced every year during the monsoon.

In Bhuna, administrative teams had made arrangements for the CM’s arrival, but the visit was called off at the last moment. Sources suggest internal political tensions between a former MLA and the current district president may have led to the cancellation. Residents expressed frustration, saying that in times of such crisis, political differences should be set aside for the sake of public welfare.
