The Shaheed Smarak is being constructed to commemorate the sacrifice of unsung heroes of the 1857 uprising. The Smarak, being constructed at a cost of nearly Rs 600 crore, features multiple art galleries.

Vij reviewed progress and praised the craftsmanship, noting that the artists had created powerful depictions that vividly bring the history back to life. He also appreciated the life-size statues installed at various points and interacted with the artisans.

The galleries of the memorial portray key events of 1857, showcasing the attire of soldiers, freedom fighters, as well as weapons such as rifles used during that period.

The Minister also reviewed arrangements for ticketing, suggesting that instead of multiple categories, a single entry ticket should be issued for visitors. He directed officials to finalise the location of ticket counters.

Following the inspection, the minister chaired a meeting with officials where he viewed a presentation of the memorial. He held discussions on several aspects, including historical representations, audio-visual presentations, completion of 23 galleries, projector shows at the open-air theatre and strategies to make the memorial self-sustainable in terms of revenue.
