Alleging factionalism within the Congress, former Haryana Chief Minister and Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar asked Congress MP Kumari Selja to switch sides and join the BJP. He pointed to “internal rifts” within the Congress and took a jibe at former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his son Deepender Hooda without naming them.

“There is no clarity on the Congress’ CM candidate. The father and the son both want to be the CM. Leaders from outside their family are also vying for the chair. Everyone may have aspirations, but our Dalit sister is being insulted and humiliated. We are ready to bring such leaders into our party, if they are willing,” said Khattar, while addressing a gathering at Gharaunda in support of BJP candidate Harvinder Kalyan late on Friday evening.

Khattar claimed, “While the Congress continues to crumble due to factionalism, we have brought several of their leaders into the BJP fold. We are ready to welcome more.”

The former CM’s statement came at a time when the Congress is grappling with factionalism and growing dissent within its ranks with senior leader Selja missing from the party’s campaign.

In another event held in Karnal, when asked if Congress MPs Kumari Selja and Randeep Singh Surjewala would join the BJP, Khattar said, “Politics is a world of endless possibilities. Nothing can be ruled out. You will know about it when the time is right.”
