Cong MLAs protest, say poll panel has lost credibility

Led by a former CM, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and state Congress president Udai Bhan, all Congress MLAs today protested against the alleged vote theft. The marching MLAs reached the Vidhan Sabha, raising slogans of “Vote chor, gaddi chhod”.

Hooda said Rahul Gandhi’s revelations had made it clear that the BJP did not win in Haryana. The Election Commission had lost its credibility, and in Haryana, it worked at the behest of the BJP. “This is why the voting, initially scheduled for October 1, was postponed to October 5. At that time, the Congress had also expressed doubts on the intent and working style of the Election Commission and had opposed the postponement of the date,”

he claimed, adding that all the exit polls were showing Congress's victory. “Despite this, the Chief Minister held a press conference on October 7 and said all arrangements had been made for the BJP's victory,” he said.

“Earlier, even after 50 hours of voting, the data changed two to three times at different times, and just 12 hours before the result, a sudden increase of 2.5% in votes was shown. District-wise and Assembly-wise data about this has been kept in the report of the investigation committee headed by Karan Singh Dalal,” he pointed out.

During the counting, it was also seen that many EVMs had 99% battery charge. “The complaint was made to the Election Commission, but it ignored it, and to date, no proper answer has been given. The commission deleted the EVM data at Rania, instead of recounting, despite the court order,” he said.

Responding to media queries, Hooda said the Election Commission, which was asking for an affidavit from Rahul Gandhi, should first give an affidavit itself. “The commission is asking for an affidavit to cover up its misdeeds. Democracy will remain strong only when all constitutional institutions work independently,” he added.
