The Congress has written a letter to the Election Commission of India (EC) and the State Election Commission, Haryana, to transfer Kurukshetra Deputy Commissoner-cum-District Election Officer Sushil Sarwan, whose mother Santosh Sarwan is the BJP candidate from the Mullana Assembly seat. The Congress alleged that his posting in the adjoining district could affect the Assembly elections.

“I have filed a complaint with the Election Commission for the transfer of Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan as his mother Santosh Sarwan is contesting from the Mulana seat. It is a rule of the Election Commission that no relative of any candidate can be on election duty. He was even transferred during the last elections,” said Suresh Unispur, a member of the HPCC.

“It is our apprehension that the Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner may use his position to provide help to his mother,” he added.
