The protesters, led by Congress district president Ramesh Malik, marched to the Mini Secretariat and submitted a memorandum to the SDM in the name of the President against the suicide of Puran Kumar, the alleged incident of a Dalit’s murder in Uttar Pradesh, and the shoe-hurling incident targeting the CJI.

A meeting of members of various social organisations of SC community was also held at Gohana in Sonepat, demanding the arrest of officials behind Kumar's death.

The Congress leaders said these incidents were an attack on the country’s democracy and judicial system.

“Justice must prevail in the IPS officer's suicide case, and those responsible must face strict punishment. Only a judicial probe can ensure it,” Malik said.
