The meeting was chaired by urban district president Parag Gaba, and was attended by senior leaders and workers. During the meeting, several agendas aimed at strengthening the party at the grassroots level were discussed.
Key issues included developing leadership in line with Rahul Gandhi’s vision, ensuring hardworking workers get due recognition within the organisation, and countering what leaders termed as false and misleading propaganda spread by the BJP.
Speaking on the occasion, Gaba said: “To fulfil Rahul Gandhi’s dreams, we must come together and actively contribute to party activities.”
He said he would be present at the party office every Sunday from 11 am to 1 pm to hear public grievances related to roads, electricity, water, pensions, and other civic issues, which would be raised with the authorities concerned.
Gaba said booth-level committees would soon be formed, and after consultations with the party high command, appointments of block and mandal presidents would be declared. Thereafter, the district executive, sector heads, and ward heads would also be appointed. A membership drive would be launched to bring new people into the party, and ward-level ‘padyatras’ would be organised to take Congress policies to every household.
Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee working president Suresh Gupta, former Speaker Kuldeep Sharma, former MLA Bakshish Singh Virk, youth district president Rajat Lathar, and other senior leaders of the party shared their ideas and exhorted party leaders and workers to reach out to people to “expose the BJP’s anti-people policies”.
