Congress launches manifesto; focus on farmers, women and youth

The Haryana Congress today launched its 34-page manifesto focusing on women, youth, and farmers.

For farmers, the Congress promised a law ensuring MSP, setting up of farmers’ commission and memorial to those who died during the farmers’ agitation at Singhu/Tikri border. It also promised the withdrawal of cases against farmers in the past 10 years.

The party announced 33 per cent reservation for women in jobs, LPG domestic cylinder at Rs 500, Rs 6,000 widow pension, and Rs 2,000 per month to women in 18-60 age group under Indira Gandhi Ladli Bahen Samman Yojna.

Besides filling of 2 lakh posts, the party promised the closure of the Haryana Kaushal Rozgaar Nigam. It said the nigam employees would be absorbed after forming a policy. It also promised to try paper leak cases through a fast-track court.

Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Haryana Congress president Udai Bhan, president of election manifesto committee Geeta Bhukkal and former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot were present at the launch.

While Bhukkal said, “We have analysed the financial implications before including the sops in the manifesto,” Hooda said they had learnt a lot from Congress rule in Rajasthan.

Gehlot claimed that unlike the BJP, the Congress fulfilled it promises.
