The police have registered a case against a former Congress district president and some other persons on charges of rioting, criminal trespass, criminal intimidation and the Arms Act.

The case was registered on complaint of Jamit Kumar of Sahibabad (Ghaziabad) under Sections 191 (2), 191 (3), 329 (3) and 351 (2) of the BNS and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act at the Sadar police station on June 19.

The complainant told the police that he owned 49 kanal and 15 marla agricultural land at Ratangarh village in Yamunanagar district. Kumar said when he was ploughing his agricultural fields on June 15, he was stopped from doing so by 15 to 20 persons. Some of them were carrying weapons, he said. On the other hand, Congress leader said the land belonged to his daughter. He said Kumar was trying to do take possession of the land illegally.
