“The Vidhan Sabha poll campaign will be launched on July 11,” said a senior party leader on condition of anonymity.

Hooda to take part

  • A press conference at the Congress office in Chandigarh has been organised

A press conference at the Congress office in Chandigarh has been organised for the event. A “chargesheet” against the state BJP government will also be released on the occasion, as revealed by party sources.

Sources have informed that a crucial meeting between party strategist for Maharashtra and Haryana polls, Sunil Kanugolu, and Hooda will also take place on the same day.

Kanugolu is credited with Congress victories in Karnataka and Telangana state polls.

“A programme regarding Vidhan Sabha poll will be launched. We will reveal it on July 11,” confirmed state party president Udai Bhan.

“We are launching a programme regarding the Vidhan Sabha poll. There is a possibility of launching slogans,” said former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

With anti-incumbency as its main plank, the Congress seems to be in pole position ahead of the Vidhan Sabha poll. Despite the BJP and Congress each winning five seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the INDIA bloc not only received a higher vote percentage but also led in 46 Assembly segments, compared to the BJP’s lead in 44 segments.
