Congress MLA from Sirsa, Gokul Setia, has announced a protest against what he described as the “arbitrary and indifferent attitude” of government officials in the district. Taking to Facebook, Setia declared, “No protocol-only protest,” saying that on Tuesday, the people of Sirsa will demand answers from the administration.

Speaking to reporters, Setia said it had been a year since he became an MLA, yet the public continued to suffer due to administrative neglect. “No officer answers calls or listens to complaints. The sewer system has collapsed, and there’s an acute water shortage. These officials think they are above everyone, they act as if they are the government itself because it’s a BJP administration. But now, the people of Sirsa will ask questions,” he said.

The protest is scheduled to coincide with the District Development and Coordination Committee (DISHA) meeting on Tuesday, which will be chaired by Lok Sabha MP Kumari Selja. Senior officials from all departments are expected to attend. Setia said he planned to raise his concerns during the meeting and had invited the public to join the protest.

Drawing comparisons with neighbouring Fatehabad, Setia claimed that officials there became active only after Chief Minister Nayab Saini visited the district. “They built roads overnight and cleaned up the city. These officers value only one powerful person, not the people they serve. Many are only interested in enjoying the perks of power. Once the government changes, they’ll start saluting someone else,” he remarked.

Setia also acknowledged that the residents had not supported him in the municipal elections, which he said was one reason for the city’s current troubles. “The sewer lines are already blocked, and things will get worse if this continues. The officials are not doing their jobs, but I know how to get the work done. If they don’t listen, protest is the only way,” he said.
