Congress must face truth in National Herald case: Badoli

BJP state chief Mohan Lal Badoli launched a attack on the Congress over its protest following the Enforcement Directorate’s chargesheet in the National Herald case, saying the party should face the truth rather than politicising the issue.

Addressing a press conference at his residence here today, Badoli said, “Congress has every right to protest in a democracy, but no one has the right to indulge in corruption.”

He accused the Congress of giving a political colour to a serious financial matter. “By misusing government assets, the Congress has played a big game. Now that the ED has initiated action, they’re trying to cover up the scam by calling it a fake case,” Badoli said.

He alleged that the Congress took over the National Herald's assets through Young India, a company in which Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi own 76% shares.

“National Herald was started in 1937 and had about 5,000 shareholders, including freedom fighters. But the Congress took control of the assets via Young India. Shares worth Rs 90 crore were transferred for just Rs 50 lakh, by manipulating shareholding,” he claimed.

Urging the Congress to cooperate with the investigation, Badoli said, “Instead of giving the issue a political twist, the Congress should show the courage to face the truth and fully support the legal process.”
